Packed with light and character, this stunning transformation from @thehalfdonehouse is truly inspiring. An impressive skylight, marble-effect tiling, navy blue ceiling and plenty of plants makes this room an incredibly Insta-worthy space.

Speaking about the renovation, owner Emma says: ‘We still have a few finishing touches to do but we finally have a fully functioning family bathroom. So pleased with how it’s turned out. It’s taken over a year to complete.’

What a transformation! Bright and beautiful, what once was a tired-looking space has been completely overhauled with vibrant tiles, a raised level for the bath and large sink. The corner shower was removed to create a more functional, spacious room.

‘When we got our keys in June this small shower room was the main bathroom,’ says owner Rachel. ‘Nothing too terrible… but I do enjoy a bath! So, we knocked a wall down to extend the bathroom as well as removing the false ceiling to create a big, bold and bright bathroom – bath included!’

Changing Rooms star, Linda Barker, adds: ‘We can often become fixated on keeping floor levels even during a re-fit, but this bathroom shows that even in a compact space, varying levels can work beautifully. A lovely detail is the single black tile riser which means you’ll never miss your step!’

We love the way Hannah from @thistle.harvest has brightened up her bathroom with new stencilled tiles, plant-filled shelves and neutral colours. It might be a small space, but it’s oh-so stylish.

‘Every centimetre of space is used to its advantage; the black details really add personality to this space and there’s room enough for everything, including artwork and healthy plants,’ says Linda. ‘Even the wall mirror has integral storage. Clever stuff.’

After searching Gumtree to embark on her DIY project, Alisia transformed this bathroom into a stylish space for the whole family. ‘With the exception of having two walls insulated and skimmed, the floor boarded out and fitted with vinyl, and the tiling, we’ve done everything ourselves,’ she says.

‘I’ve done all of the design, sourcing and painting (bath included), and furniture building. Dad chose and bought the loo and got stuck in with clearing all the old fixtures out.’

Alyssa transformed her outdated bathroom using blue geometric tiles, candy pink paint and a fresh glass shower door, bringing the whole space up to date. It shows how you can hit refresh on your space without changing the entire layout.

Stephen Pitcher, Estate Agent at We Buy Any House, adds: ‘Bold bright tiles like this are very on trend, especially when paired with block colours on the wall. The interesting shape of the shower also draws attention in, as do the tiles. The matching flooring provides a flawless link between the shower and floor, making the room look larger. The updated taps are also much more attractive.’

After Katie’s renovation, her tiny bathroom was home to eye-catching tiles, striking plants and a useful grey cabinet around the sink. In her Instagram post, she wrote: ‘When we moved in we didn’t even have a toilet in our bathroom. It’s the tiniest space, didn’t want to get rid of the bath although we never actually use the bath. We did a load of work in the bathroom when we first moved in but recently revamped it, amazing what a bit of paint can do.’

We’ve got our eye on this scene-stealing bathroom transformation — especially the monochrome tiles!

‘This was one of the first rooms I decided on, so it made sense to post this one first. I kind of knew what style I wanted in here, I only wish every other room was as simple to design as this one was,’ says Shelley in her post.

Need some interior inspiration? We love what @restorationcouple have done to their bathroom using a little knowhow and lots of DIY skills. It shows how a fresh lick of paint and new flooring can transform a room.

Linda Barker adds: ‘Every detail in this bathroom is working well. It can be a brave move to remove existing tiling but I guess the floral “baskets” on the old tiles left our house owners with very little options! They’ve proved that pretty painted stonework and an exposed wood beam are small details that shout loudly.’

The avocado-hued bathroom in this home has been completely modernised with a spectacular double shower, modern wooden flooring and large basin.

Posting on Instagram, the caption reads: ‘One small bathroom renovation. It’s taken us nearly 12 months (thanks to some small unheard of virus)… one winter with no heating… zero days with no shower (thanks to epic plumber) four days of tiling (around various lockdowns) and three different leaks (two through the ceiling and one from under the loo!) but we’re there!’

Wow what a transformation! From self-tiling the gorgeous flooring to the striking blue shower tiles, this space provides plenty of inspiration.

Interior designer, Steph Briggs, says: ‘Blue and white is a classic colour combination for a bathroom, and this is a beautifully modern take on it with floor to ceiling herringbone tiling which extends past the shower enclosure, giving a feeling of space and decadence.

‘The celestial floor tiles are stunning and tie together the patterns, colour and textures beautifully. The long-heated towel rail is not only an effective use of space but also elongates the room and the eye is naturally drawn upwards.’

It’s amazing what new tiles, an upgraded shower head and a space-saving sink can do to give life to a bathroom.

Linda Barker adds: ‘From a space that you’d want to exit as soon as you got in, there is now a warm, pretty room; somewhere you’d like to linger. All this has been achieved despite the bathroom’s exceptionally small space. The varying tones of grey and beige in the tiles are a lovely choice and immediately look luxurious.’
